The CATIE Center at St. Catherine University (CATIE) was funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA, grant #H160A100003) to support skill development for interpreters working with consumers of vocational rehabilitation services. Our region includes the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin.

We are pleased to serve interpreters, interpreter educators and stakeholders by:
    1. Offering intensive training for novice and experienced interpreters and Deaf mentors
    2. Providing resources and education regarding healthcare interpreting
    3. Promoting the dissemination and implementation of the Deaf Self-Advocacy Training curriculum developed in the previous grant cycle
    4. Enhancing dissemination of information about interpreting for Deaf-Blind consumers
    5. Developing educational resources on video remote interpreting in Vocational Rehabilitation settings
    6. Serving as a comprehensive regional resource center on effective practices
    We strive to:
    • Provide educational opportunities based on effective practices
    • Serve as a resource center to the region on interpreting, interpreter education and self-advocacy by deaf consumers
    • Collaborate with our partners to provide coordinated, cost-effective, non-duplicative programming
